The Gro Company is the result of two parents battle to get their baby to sleep at night. 3 million Grobags later The Gro Company is known as the “official” baby sleep bag brand now selling a range of baby sleep products worldwide.
The Gro Company has always strived to 'Do the Right thing' whether it be their robust ethical sourcing practices or excellent customer service. Not only do they have a commitment to safer sleep, but they want to do their best to help make parents and their children’s lives better.
As part of an ambitious growth strategy a decision was taken to migrate from an old Magento 1 Community site to the latest Magento 2 Commerce platform.
The Gro Company team wanted to have more control over merchandising on the site and deliver a more personalised experience making it easier for parents to find and buy what they need. Magento 2 features such as preview and staging, segmentation and BlueFootCMS were some of tools that convinced The Gro Company that Magento was the right platform for them.
BUSY PARENTS NEED CONVENIENCE
With the site receiving over 75% mobile traffic the performance and responsive design were primary consideration. With a number of very tired parents at GENE there was a lot of empathy with the target audience. For parents, time is short and sometimes patience is thin so ease of use and convenience would be the marker between a sale and not.
Speed of the site, advanced search and of course mobile payment options using Gene's very own Apple Pay software for Braintree has created some fantastic results on mobile.

We embarked on a strategy to support parents on their journey from newborn to toddler. The site was architected to enable clear product choices at various stages of the child's development along with curated suggestions and ideas. We wanted to create a destination that was easy to use, reassuring and one that customers would want to come back to again and again.
POWERING THE BEHIND THE SCENES
Using the extensive Magento 2 API the new site was fully integrated with SAP Business One ERP system. Integrations with personalisation experts, Nosto, and email providers Bronto supported customer communication, segmentation and personalisation.
