Green People might have started with mother searching for an answer to her daughter’s skin issues, but they had come along way since they founded in 1997. Based in Sussex, Green People had achieved listings in multiple national retailers and there was a strong online demand for their products – the secret was out! They had big plans for the future, but their website was in desperate need of a total makeover.
Their existing ecommerce agency wasn’t being proactive about how they could move forward with their business, and their website still wasn’t functioning properly. They approached us for fresh ideas, and three days later they switched to Gene. Our priority was to fix bugs on the existing site – issues like buy buttons not working – before stabilizing their website code and setting about solving their problems.
Where did we start?
The wonderful thing about working with Green People is that they have so many good ideas. But rather than being reactive and trying to do everything at once, we sat down with them and drafted a 12-month plan. Our first goal was to completely migrate their old site onto a new version of Magento with a more modern design and user experience, then build in other functionality for the next stage of development.
Through our consultancy and strategic planning we were soon able to launch the new website in the US, Sweden, France, Germany and Spain. We then began integrating other features such as a customer review function and Instagram feed. The site is now more stable – so rather than spending their time fixing issues, Green People can spend more time on merchandising the store and looking ahead.
So what difference has this made to their online performance? Well, the new site gives them more control over their landing pages and content, which has helped them interact with customers and build a community. By making changes to their site, we’ve also helped them exceed their annual commercial targets November. This is a huge achievement considering the busy Christmas period is still to come!
