a unique journey
The story behind Gandys is more than just content and narrative; but a unique journey that compelled Rob and Paul Forkan to create Gandys and the Orphans for Orphans initiative.
Two brothers orphaned by the 2004 Tsunami founded the company with a view to help fellow orphans, using profits to eventually build an orphanage and promoting charities by the way.
A new look for Gandys
With such a unique story and purpose the key priority was to ensure that their values, ethos and journey was communicated effectively on the new website.
Over time they have built up a fiercely loyal and enthusiastic community so it was imperative that any new site continued to engage and talk to them. It was important for visitors to the site to feel that they were going on an exciting journey and create an aspirational effect.
Gandys, are known for their flip flops, it's where it all started, and in particular the red Necker Flip Flop inspired by Richard Branson's Necker island and indeed supported by Richard himself.
This January marked the start of the next phase of the journey, expanding to offer a new range of lifestyle fashion products from beach towels to bags, sunglasses to board shorts. The new site, built on Magento, needed to scale, take the guys to the next level but retain their brand values.
